GROUND SCHOOL 2018
Our Ground School for 2018 will once again be brought to you in WEBINAR format by the Great Lakes instructor team.
This allows access to the course from the comfort of your favourite recliner.
Internet access is required.
Classes start on Thursday, February 8th (8.00 pm). Thereafter, lessons will be held on consecutive Thursday nights (8.00 pm - 10.00 pm). We will skip the Easter weekend.
This course will be delivered by interactive webinar hosted by David Donaldson - SAC Safety Officer and Great Lakes Instructor.
We will try a new teaching format for this Ground School - the Flipped Class format. The student watches the appropriate GS video ahead of time (a link will be provided) and completes the associated quiz.
The time in-class will be be sent first answering questions and reviewing the quiz.
Each student will be assigned a topic for each session that they have to explain back to the class.
For example, describe a stall, or when flying a ridge and you approaching another glider, what is the proper procedure?
The course fee is $200.00 for GLGC club members, $300.00 for others (taxes excluded). SOAR and Learn to Glide will be supplied by your club. Maps will need to be acquired by course attendees and are available from a variety of vendors.
A letter of completion will be issued at the end of the Ground School course.
